I didn't go to the gym thinking "I am going to be a body builder". Like most girls I went thinking I want to get really slim and toned, so doing loads of classes and cardio and not eating an awful lot would be the way to do it.

After finding that this didn't seem to have the desired effects I started training with a friend who was a personal trainer. This seemed better, but still wasn't coming close to what I wanted. Before I knew it I was obsessed with going to the gym with the hope of achieving "the perfect body". This soon started to have a very positive effect on me. Not just on my body but my head too. 

I am a sales executive for a telecommunications company. This involves a lot of travelling and staying away from home. It is very high pressured and it can be very difficult to switch off from the day.  I was offered a promotion that required me to move away from all of my friends and family and further my career.  This is when i moved to Bedfordshire. Not knowing anyone in this area started to focus more on weight training for toning.

I decided to move to a closer gym to work so I could have longer in the gym in the evenings. This was where I met Chris Burford. Chris invited me to train with them one Saturday and I thought "why not?". Having already got more into weight training it didn't seem like too much of a big deal. I remember it being very hard but absolutely loving it.

Chris has not only helped me to achieve what I started going to the gym for, but encouraged me to eat more of the right thing to achieve a healthier lifestyle.

Bodybuilding has given me a new found confidence which has improved all aspects of my life in and out of the gym. Now I know what to do I’m never going back to my old ways.

Name: Carl Wetenhal

Although I wasn't in a terrible shape, I was far from the look I wanted. My wedding was coming up which gave me the motivation to get into shape. I saw the pictures of Chris' transformation which inspired me and had an idea of what sort of look I wanted. I needed some separation in my muscles, but didn't want to get to lean and look drawn out in my wedding photos.

Chris looked at my current diet at the time, and although very good he noticed straight away that I was consuming too many calories. He drew up a diet plan for me which I tried to stick to as much as possible. Training wise, I wanted a balance between training and home life. I train 3 times a week with weights finishing with about 15-20 Min's of cardio. I stick mainly to compound exercises and very rarely train my arms.

I stuck with the diet and training program and before long I could see my body changing shape, the last few weeks the fat was dropping off me. I was pleased with the result although I did want to be a bit leaner but ran out of time!.

I now intend to stay lean and not lose sight of my abs whilst putting on some muscle tissue. Chris has helped me to alter my diet in order achieve this. With a clean diet, hard work and determination anyone can achieve what I achieved.

After travelling the world and seeing my photos I didn't like what I saw. I had become heavily overweight and unhealthy, so decided to do something about it. I joined the gym and changed my diet and managed to loose 5 stone gaining more confidence and energy.

Supporting and travelling with TEAM BURFORD inspired me and made me want to take myself onto the next level and challenge myself.

With the help and encouragement of Chris who has helped me tweak my diet and training and support of the team I hope to compete in bodybuilding in 2010.

Its hard work, but I love the training and being part of a team and cant see myself ever going back to my bad ways.

In the beginning of 2007, I was excited with the prospect of becoming a degree student studying musical theatre at the Guildford school of acting in sept. However I was advised to lose as much weight as possible in order to improve my general fitness. I knew this to be the case as my current level of fitness was poor and I would have struggled with the vigorous timetable of studio classes, exercise and drama. 

So in January, I joined Fitness First in Luton with the aim of losing weight and toning up. I started of with a general fitness program provided by the gym staff, but I soon realised that I needed a regime that was specific to my goals and to help me reach my targets fast. Being new to the gym, I had no knowledge of training or nutrition and that was when I met Chris.

During my initial consultation, Chris had weighed and measured my Body Fat and I was shocked to learn the results. I knew it had to come off and I was committed and determined enough to see it through.
 
I needed to be pushed and Chris had realised that I needed more help then I had asked for. He explained that he was training for a bodybuilding competition later that year and if I was serious, that I could train with him. I was sceptical at first and I thought he was joking. I had never seen my abs let alone train like a bodybuilder, but was eager to accept his offer. Chris smiled and said "Welcome to the ultimate life changing experience".

For eight months Chris put me through a tough training program. I had to quickly adapt to a new eating regime that he carefully worked out for my body type. The whole concept of healthy eating was new to me and a complete shocked to my digestive system. I had gone from eating burgers and chips to clean Kcal such as oats porridge, wholegrain rice, fish, nuts chicken, vegetables and plenty of water. I even had to learn how to use weighing scales to measure out my portion sizes.

Chris had encouraged me to make radical lifestyle changes like giving up smoking, drinking. My efforts were monitored very closely. At first I found it very hard to adjust to the changes and the few times a slipped with my diet Chris could always tell.

However, within no time I started to see results and the amazingly I was gaining confidence, started to believe in myself and becoming more self motivated. Watching Chris at his bodybuilding competition gave me more determination to train harder and I surprised myself by exceeding my goals. 
 

Chris kept me grounded and focused on my goals and later that year when I went to enrol at the Guilford school of acting, I had to produce ID to prove who I was because I changed so much. Looking back at the total 8 months, I have learned so much about myself and have become more focused in life.
 
I am forever grateful for the training, guidance and mentoring that I had received and I have inspired other people to make similar lifestyle changes for better health and fitness.

I have been training with Chris since September 2007. I trained for 3 years before I met Chris; well at least I thought I did! When I first stepped on the scales with Chris I was horrified to find not only had my weight ballooned to 18 stone, but my body fat was 33% which in simple terms equated to a 3rd of my body being just fat.

When I asked Chris how I would go about shedding this weight he advised me to start doing CV for 1 hour per day so I asked what day would be my rest day but Chris quickly advised fat needs no time to rest! I embarked on a change of life and as well as training stopped drinking and started eating properly and in my 1st 2 months I lost a stone.
 
Over the course of my 1st 18months this went from a stone lost to 5 stone and saw me weigh in at 13stones which is the lowest I can ever remember being since I was in high school!

This is all thanks to Chris as I know without his time, effort and patience I would have been unable to achieve by myself.

Personal Training

My personal training will give you results that go further than cosmetic. Not only will you look good and obtain a healthy ratio of body fat to lean muscle, you’ll also get that “feel good” glow that comes from increased energy and heightened state of overall health.

You will become more agile and skilled in the sports in which you choose to participate. As you increase your fitness you will reduce your chance of heart disease and be much better equipped to manage stress.

Combined with one to one sessions you’ll be encouraged to do several of these activity sessions on your own. Eventually, you’ll progress to doing some type of activity most days of the week I will help you plan and schedule these workouts so that it’s easy for you to complete them on your own.
